Been Here Before (Circle Growth)
serve it up to me
on a platter of infinity
layered like a long life.
twitching with my rudder down
looking out to see
if eyes are catching me.
no one has reviewed my outfit
i’m wearing honesty.
the silver future and I
once looked so good
in mirrors
smoking in the center.
can’t make a show of taking off my sweater
when I could have been growing
all the while.
i’ve been here before
and it was never hostile
but the walls don’t want to talk
and everybody’s busy.
my heart is beating to the only sounds
the PA won’t hold
could I cut on fiddle music
and run for the hills
far enough to hold me.
tree hug, sweet pea.
i’ve been here before
it’s a site of compromise
unnecessary with my freed up time.
I adjust the furniture for
some fine looking people
and I am on my way
back around
out to the woods with the old crows
turning curiosity
eyes unbound.
